Me and Barney are excited about the new Star Warts movie (we’re aware that we are not alone in this). As kids we watched the original trilogy again and again but recently we both realised that neither of us had watched a star wars movie in ages.
To build up to Christmas and the release of Episode VII we’re going to watch and commentate on each Star Wars film, in numerical order (as it is preferable to build to a happy ‘ending’ both in terms of the actual story of the film and the quality of the film), enduring the new trilogy so you don’t have to and recalling our nerdish fawning over the original trilogy as well as chipping in on whether time (the great healer) has been kind to any of them.
First up, we sat down to watch the much derided “Phantom Menace” and in part 1 we discuss whether droids have a soul, why there is so much leather in a galaxy far far away and whether it is slightly awkward that a great jedi just can’t seem to graduate…
